You will explore the central part of Crete with two different plateaus. We continue our journey to the plateau of Katharo passing through the biggest Forrest on the island, where the roads are non-existent and the mountains reach a height of 1.500 metres.We then continue through the dirt tracks, goat valley and across rivers, this is where the journey really gets exiting. You can have a rest while having a BBQ lunch, with unlimited wine. After lunch we take you back in time on a visit to the Eco Village where you can see local crafts being made as they were in old times. Our next stop is Zeus's cave where mythology says that Zeus, the father of all the gods was born. Heading back we pass through the area of Selinari where you will see vultures, which are now an endangered species
We pass through small traditional villages, mountains and plains. The firs stop is the village of Spili, famous for its spring water. Over 25 lion head fountains have cold mountain water running all year round.
After passing through Kerame our guests can see the panoramic view of the southern Cretan coast and the Libyan sea. After getting dusty and dirty a swim at Preveli Beach will be appreciated. Preveli is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island with its tall palm trees and crystal clear water.
After the swim it is time for a traditional Cretan meal with unlimited wine. After lunch, we start the climb back up into the mountains for more dramatic scenery, and more photos as we drive thru Kroustaliotico Gorge. As we head back everyone can see the entire city of Rethimno from the top of a mountain which can only be reached by Land Rovers.
Our day starts as we drive thought the orange groves heading towards the gorge of Therisso, one of the most amazing journeys. We start climbing towards the White Mountains, we make one more stop at village of Lakoi. There you get the chance to take some more pictures. From there, our extreme off road adventure starts.
A small road leads us on the highest point of the day where we get the chance to see Samaria Gorge. Climbing down towards the plateau of Omalos and working up an appetite we visit a small traditional taverna which is hanging on the edge of the Samaria Gorge, where our lunch will be. Enough free time is offered as well so you explore the area and spot wild Kri-Kri in their nature.
After a short ride we visit the village of Sebronas where we follow the route of the river we make a stop in the Forrest to get fresh water. We make one last stop at the village of Vouves where we get the chance to see the world oldest olive tree while you enjoy a coffee or raki just before we reach your hotels.
